1 Outfit x 3 looks and Style Tips for effortless Diwali dressing!

It is that time of the year again, where the entire nation is buzzing with the festive vibes. There is a lot of joy in the air as every nook and corner of the city is beautifully lit, decorated, and filled with love and happiness. When every minute detail is taken into the consideration during Diwali, dressing up aptly for the occasion becomes one of the top priorities as well. Indian wear is definitely, predominant at the Diwali parties or get-togethers, and yes! How much do I love this! However, this time around, I gave my outfit a little twist, and took it a fusion way during my favourite time of the year. After all, comfort and style goes hand in hand, right?

Style tips for effortless Diwali dressing

  1. Incorporate bright colours or hues of ivory, beige, and dull gold for your Diwali dressing.
  2. Intricate but subtle work, and bold prints can be your choice for this super blingy festival
  3. Though Indian wear is an absolute classic option, but you can even consider toning down on your outfits, and opt for a fusion wear
  4. Dhoti pants teamed with kurtas or long jackets- A big thumbs up to this deadly combination this festive season
  5. Try pairing a shirt or a jacket with your long flowy skirt! It looks elegant and comfortable, and you can pair it with a maatha tikka to take it up a notch!
  6. Go for a little heavier look in the evening, and pair your Indian-fusion outfits (see above) with Chand Balis, Danglers or Cocktails rings!
  7. Well defined eyes with bold lip colours. If you are opting for smokey eyes, tone down on your lip colour and go for nudes, blushes or baby pinks
  8. Go for a pair of nice Juttis! And, Tada! You are all Diwali Ready!

My Indian-Fusion look (One dress X 3 Outfits)
I simply love long flowy skirts, and you can take it up a notch by styling it whichever way you like. There are few options which I had shared with you all above, and there are few more for you to explore at Martini On Heels.

Crop-top and a statement piece

This look can never go wrong, and it is chic and perfect combination for you to put your stylish foot forward this festive season.

Sleeveless Long Jacket with your outfit

It is super classy if you pair your outfit with a Jacket, blazer or anything that adds a little extra element to your outfit!

Stoal turned into bandana and teamed with a necklace

It looks super stylish to support a head gear with your outfit, and while you can always convert your necklace into an interesting head piece; one can add another element with a scarf or a stoal as well.

I love wearing proper Indian attire during the festive season, but a little twist would harm nobody, right?

Hope you had enjoyed this post! Wishing all my lovely readers a very happy and prosperous Diwali!

Distressed Jeans – Day and Night Look!

So, I have already styled the same distressed jeans in one of my previous posts- The Denim Edit III. However, there are zillion ways that one can style these super pair of versatile jeans. I thought of taking the same denim jeans, and transforming that previous day-look into night-look.

Day Look

The previous look created on martini on heels, when I used the same pair of distressed jeans was something like this below. It was chic, comfortable and prefect for your college fashion, shopping spree or even coffee date.

Night Look

Obviously, these Jeans paired with your favourite high heels is such a deadly combination. One of the looks which I collated for you is like this below. I simply love pairing jeans with jackets and ankle length shoes, and since this look is for night out, it would be a good idea to add some zing with this blingy blue crop top!

Now, to put up another look, I thought to take it to the next level, and pair it with an oversized see through net tunic and high heels! Funky, Yeah? But definitely, it also screams stylish and cool to me at the same time. Let me know your thoughts on this look below! And, until next time, lots and pots of love to you!

The Chatter House: Food Review

We all have some sort of perception about the Pub food! It is something that you have over drinks or maybe afterwards, but it can never match the standards of any fine dining restaurant! What if you find an amalgamation of the two? No, I am not saying that I found a fine dining restaurant in a pub but it is definitely above the regular food you would find in any of the pubs in our city. A modern contemporary place- The Chatter House right in the heart of Khan Market is a perfect getaway from the mundane flow of life! It brings alive the very essence of the pub culture made famous by typical European pubs, and you have a perfect place at your disposal to connect with friends over scrumptious food, and mind blowing drinks. The place is spread over two floors, with huge round windows touching the ceiling. It has an underground pub sort of a vibe with bricked walls which give the interiors a nice rustic look.

When I happened to visit The Chatter House, I was under the impression of finding some regular pub food which will be a part of the menu. But seeing their elaborate menu, l certainly couldn’t resist ordering an array of dishes. We started off with a few starters to begin with like Dahi Kebabs which were melting in the mouth and completely oil free. I wonder how they managed that because mostly wherever I have had Dahi Kebabs, they were almost drenched in oil! Next came the Toastadas which were crunchy tortillas topped with chicken, sour cream, kidney beans and salsa. Tostadas can be a perfect accompaniment to your drinks that has a crispy base and delish Mexican toppings. It looked like a thin crust pizza but it just wasn’t as heavy as any regular pizza but certainly more satisfactory to eat than a bowl of nachos. We ordered more of starters as usually we prefer small plates over elaborate main courses. Next in our list to order were the Galouti Kebabs which were again melting in the mouth, and minced perfectly to achieve that smooth texture. They were served with ulte tawe ka parantha which I wasn’t really a fan of but kebabs were cooked to perfection. We also ordered Amritsari fish which was again tender, grilled perfectly, and spices in it were balanced as well. I am a big fan of salads and their Garden in a Bowl which is a mix of seasonal vegetables and roasted almonds on a bed of smoked yoghurt and eggplant puree was refreshing and delicious. I was almost done with our starters when I spotted the blue cheese naan in their bar snacks. That caught my eye as never ever I came across any form of naan with dal makhani shots mentioned in the appetizers of any menu which urged me to order the same, and give it a shot (literally)! I certainly didn’t regret ordering that because the dish came with three bite sized naans, with their respective dal makhani shots. I loved it because otherwise one would never think of ordering dal makhani and naan in a gastro pub sort of a place. However, I feel that the taste of blue cheese in the naan was a little less to my liking. We were even impressed by their Lebanese Mezze Platter as it goes pretty well with your drinks, and kebabs were succulent enough. We hardly had any room for main course but seeing creamy polenta, we thought to give it a try as well. However, I wasn’t as impressed with it as I was by their other dishes because it was a little grainy as per my liking. Next we were served- Balls on fire: lamb dumplings simmered in tomato & chipotle sauce finished with feta and smoked chilli and I thought the meatballs were a tad dry but the sauce was really good. So, you would find a lot of choice in their menu which is a mix of Lebanese, European, Mexican and Indian. However, Indian dishes are definitely more predominant in their menu overall. There are a lot of places that I know where the Indian food is either oily or has some added orangish colour but at The Chatter House you wouldn’t find that. The dishes were almost oil free, and I was very happy to see that they were without any added artificial colours!

So, after the main course, we at Martini On Heels were quite curious to try the dessert which is the favourite part of our meal, indeed! We ordered two desserts- molten chocolate cake and apple crumble and god! How much did we love that! Cake with a gooey centre was perfectly moist and this is something that you cannot miss! Apple crumble was again warm and heavenly, and it had a little crunch which was because of the muesli that was used in its preparation. Overall, Martini On Heels would recommend this place to you as it’s an exemplary of a new urban spin of a pub culture. With its rustic interiors, cool vibe and good food, this place will certainly not let you down!

Martini on Heels’ recommendations:
Dahi Kebabs, Galouti Kebabs, Toastadas, Blue Cheese Nan with Dal Makhani Shots, Apple Crumble

My pick from the first cut designers of 2016 – Guapa

Fashion weeks are always fun, and it is even more fun when you wear an outfit by one of the talented and promising designers who showcased their SS’17 collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week itself. The label is Guapa by Reby J Kumar and she presented her breathtaking outfits on the day 4 at Amazon India Fashion Week – the first cut designers of 2016. Guapa SS’17 collection at Amazon India Fashion Week was breathtakingly beautiful which was all about layering with easy shapes, summer hues, and eclectic color equations. I was in love with her collection the minute I saw models sashaying down the ramp in relaxed, floaty outfits! The brand’s philosophy can best be described as “downtown nonchalance meets minimal chic.” Believing in the concepts of simplicity, color and the free spirit, the designer picked elements from the everyday ordinary, only to turn them into something special.

The Denim Edit (Part III)

The Denim Edit Story on Martini On Heels would be incomplete, if I don’t talk about the king of the denim trends of 2016- distressed jeans. Be it skinny, boyfriend or cropped, we certainly, cannot do without those ‘holey’ distressed denims in our closet.

I will come to the styling part to it as well, but before that I would like to talk about something which often confuses many- the difference between the ripped and distressed jeans. Yes, both the terms for the fashion wizards doesn’t really mean the same.

Ripped jeans have fabrics rips, and it initially, started off as rips on the knees which is now seen everywhere.

Though, it is a very popular trend of the 80s but became even more popular by the 90s when grunge artists such as Kurt Cobain started wearing these.

However, the look of distressed jeans is actually achieved in the manufacturing process, and jeans are faded on the purpose.

There are different methods like stone washing, enzyme washing, acid washing, and sand blasting etc that are used to achieve the look. Interesting, right?

For me, styling my favourite pair of distressed jeans was super fun! And, there is absolutely, no dearth of ways in which one can style them. You can pair it with a simple tee or a blazer, an oversize shirt or a denim jacket (denim on denim)! However, I took the chic way, and paired it with a bardot top! Further, to add the oomph to my look, I couldn’t miss on the broad belt which never fails to deliver for me. Have a look, and do drop in your feedback below on this look!
