From Sporty to Glam look, in a jiffy!

Styling is a backbone of fashion, at least to me! One can make or break the same look just by the way they style it! I am sure, you all would agree on this with me, right? Fashion doesn’t mean that you have every latest trend in your wardrobe. To me it means, how well you can utilise, what’s at your disposal! And, then styling comes into the picture. This white top that you see in the pictures below,  I have used it to style the day and evening look both!

Look 1

I paired the top with Denim and sporty shoes in a nude color to make it look casual yet chic at the same time. For accessorizing, I teamed it with these gorgeous shades from H&M and a sling bag which was a gift to me by my brother.

Look 1: Top –  Shein | Denims- Levis | bag- gift (from Bali) | Shades- H&M]

Look 2

For my evening look, I styled the same top with my red pants from Zara and black Pumps.

Summer Look book (Part 2)- 70s Fashion Vibes

I think I have mentioned it earlier and I am saying it again, I am a diehard 70s’ Fashion fan! I mean, I am totally smitten by the fashion trends from the fabulousm70s. I love everything about that era from bellbottoms, bell sleeves, platform shoes, wrap dresses, crop tops, and high-waisted pants to ruffled skirts and what not! How are we still inspired by the retro vibes of the 70s because whatever I just wrote above is very much in vogue now. If I look back in the Bollywood, Zeenat Aman was the biggest fashion inspiration for many in the 1970s. I have always been in awe of her style and she had that perfect body structure to carry such outfits with ease. It would be fair to say that 70s fashion was bold, and funky and edgy at the same time. Don’t you all agree with me?

The look what you see in this post is very much influenced by the 70s or maybe I am!! Haha…Top and bottoms are both from Zara and I paired with these big yellow tinted shades to complete my 70s look. Hairs are neatly pulled back and left open. Do you like this look? Please leave your comments below and let me know. Until, Next Time! Much Love!

Summer Lookbook (Part 1) – How to Style your crop tops!

Recently, I got a query on Instagram about styling the crop tops! I was working on the similar content and it makes me really happy when I get styling queries.
So, guys, it’S summertime, we love crop tops but yes, sometimes we aren’t comfortable with the whole stomach showing and this was exactly the query that I got from you. Worry not! There are ways to nail the look! Here are some styling tips that can really up the ante.

Go Co-ords
If you choose Co-ords it will give you a neat look. You will look taller and Co-ords do justice to your body structure because it’s the same print from top to bottom. You can make your look interesting and layer it with a shrug or a sleeveless shirt as well. See the pictures below.

Go high-waisted
Yes, so that only a little skin shows and you add height to the waist of your bottoms. The focus in on your upper waist which is obviously narrower than your lower waist! Go for high waisted trousers, skirts, jeans to rock your crop tops like a diva!

Co-ords– Shein| Sleeveless Shirt- Dorothy Perkins | Shoes – Zara

Go for a loose crop top
Who says crop tops are supposed to be tight fitting. You can go for a loose one and get rid of all the nervousness if any!

Longer length

If you opt for a slightly longer length while picking a crop top, it helps!

Crop Top and Shrug– Dorothy Perkins| Pants- Zara | Shoes – Clarks

Pair it with your Culottes

Cullotes make crop tops look classy! They are loose fitted trousers that clench at your waist and when paired with a fitted crop top, its a match made in heaven!

Crop Top– Cover Story| Pants- Zara | Shoes – Occedee

Pair it with a smart blazer or jacket
This is one look you can rock in the winters as well> I don’t mean when it’s freezing cold outside! Guess, you know what I mean, right? However, it looks super classy!

I hope, this post will help you and give you some styling tips on the crop tops! If you have more queries, shoot your comments and I shall be happy to help! Until, Next time! Much Love! 🙂

#AIFWAW’18 Lookbook

What I wore to the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter’18

Fashion is the statement, Not a Style. Fashion does not have to be worn casually, Nor outside the runway. Fashion is fit for all sizes, for all people of all ages. Fashion is an art of personal self-expression, not an excuse to be pretty, popular and charismatic

This is exactly how I perceive fashion and fashion weeks. I love fashion weeks because it has a great energy, enthusiasm and of course it has Fashion which is at its best. Amazon India Fashion Week by The FDCI is a much-awaited event and Martini On heels for sure cannot miss it for the world!

Pairing – Sneakers with dresses, oxfords with sarees and dresses with skirts, we have seen it all, loved it even more!
So, here I am to talk about this fabulous trend and show my take on it!

Fashion is having a mix and match moment- sneakers and skirts, stripes and spots, suede and Silk- Anonymous

Look 1

Absolutely loved creating this look where I had mixed and matched the hues of browns and paired my new and very old clothes from the wardrobe together! The top is from Promod’s recent AW’17 collection, Faux Leather Jacket is 6 years old which I absolutely love, Skirt is From Zara and is at least 13 years old and faux fur scarf was picked up by brother from Europe. Belt is from ‘The label Life’.

Winter lookbook- Part 1 #Oversized it is!

From Catwalks to Instagram, there is one trend that has swamped our social media feed for sure, which is sporting an oversized knit or a little oversized coat with ease!

The Creative directors whether at Dior, Victoria Beckham, or Balenciaga are all vouching for this trend through their Fall’17 collection.

Fashion should be always effortless and style speaks volume when done with ease. This season is all about being comfortable which can be fashionably done too! Lets up the ante, this fall! Shall we?

Look 1
I am using my mother’s overcoat which is two sizes up than my size to create this look! Pair your oversized (only a size or two up) coat with your boots or heels and pantyhose to rock this uber-stylish winter look. It’s effortless, chic, smart and super comfortable

Look 2
Like I mentioned, this fall, feel free to play around with your oversized knits and pair it with your skirts for effortless chic look. This trend is so hot this season, there is a reason you will see every celebrity sporting it so well! So go and raid your brother’s or boyfriend’s wardrobe for oversized knits because fashion should be trendy and economical both, no? 😉

The Party Edit- My favourite LBDs for the New Year’s Eve!

Just another day to go for New Year’s Eve, and the whole world will be welcoming 2018 with open arms. It’s that time of the year when people are in the festive mood and celebrations are at its peak. Of Course, one of the major aspects is also to decide on the outfit for the New Year’s Eve. There is absolutely no dearth of gorgeous pieces that you can lay your hands on to absolutely nail the party look, however, I have done a roundup of my personal favourite LBDs for New Year’s Eve. So, Why to go with an old school LBD for New Year’s Eve?

It is rightly said by Karl Lagerfeld, “One is never over-dressed or under dressed with a little black dress!

Here is why I think LBDs are perfect for your New Year’s Eve Party

• It’s a one versatile Outfit that will never let you down

• One can style the LBD as they like

• For winters, you can pair it with heels or boots

• Red Lip Colour goes so well with blacks and I love Red Lips & Nails for the party

• Wear your LBD with Coats, Jackets or Shrugs! It will look classy in any form!

• It’s an absolute comfortable yet chic look for the party season!

This Shimmery black dress paired with a floral Shrug can never go wrong for your party look. My personal favourite outfit for New Year’s Eve because it’s definitely elegant and stylish. I paired the dress with these block heeled shoes which are comfortable and sexy too! What say?

This dress is perfect to rock the party in style and comfort. I paired the dress with a golden belt to accentuate the waist along with knee length boots! Like it?

This one is a perfect dress for winters and I paired it with grungy boots and sheer stockings! If you plan to dance the whole night, just go for this one without any second guesses!

This last one is not a dress rather I paired a top with a skirt to make it look like an elegant party dress. What do you think of this look, guys?

Exploring Chanderi Stories with Samant Chauhan

Ever since I came across this beautiful royal fabric- Chanderi, I have been mesmerized by its texture.

Chanderi fabric is produced by weaving in Silk and golden Zari in the traditional cotton yarn that results in the creation of the shimmering texture.

The fabric borrowed its name from the small town ‘Chanderi’ in Madhya Pradesh where traditional weavers practice the art of producing textured sarees in cotton and silk, decorated with fine zari work.

I feel so proud to see the rich cultural heritage which reflects not only in the architecture of our country but also in the Indian fashion industry. Samant Chauhan- one of the finest designers, has very beautifully woven a story out of the outfit that I am donning which is from one of his latest collections. The designer’s beautiful narration of the ideation behind his collection will evoke memories out of each one of us.

Reminiscences of the train journeys and the passing views of lush green fields of maize, barley, wheat and flowers; are clearly reflecting in this collection.

The amalgamation of golden thread work and block printing on this ‘angarakha’ style Chanderi outfit speaks of elegance, opulence and craftsmanship. The designer has very beautifully compared the gleaming wheat and maize felids with golden threads, hence preserving all his memories in the golden hues. It seemed no less than a poetry to me!

Of course, this goes without saying that I was completely blown away when I saw such stunning pieces. I chose this angarakha style, versatile piece to style my look and narrate a different story through the pictures. Hues of red, green and pink have ruled our Indian fashion industry and that can never lose its charm. However, I totally feel in love with something as soothing as this off- white ‘chanderi’ piece which is my preference for an Indian Wear. The shoot was done at the Safdarjung tomb, Delhi which was a perfect location to bring out the classy, royal and Indian quotient of the outfit. After, wandering every nook and corner of the beautiful Safdarjung tomb, I and my photographer has really tried to capture some of the best shots for you all. I hope you enjoy reading the post.

When fashion comes to your rescue- 3 Looks X 3 Moods

Fashion is whatever you are feeling right now- anonymous

I agree with the above saying and that’s why I feel fashion has the power to uplift your mood, energy and even, your state of mind. To elaborate on this further, we all dress up, as per the occasion. If it’s a happy occasion, the outfit is anything from bright, to well fitted, and even one of the latest trends. If we have a sad occasion to go to, immediately, our outfit is understated and minimal. However, if we realize we are infesting our outfit with those emotions too. My point is that one can go the other way around and use its outfit to re-charge, elevate and bring the A- game. If you look good, you feel good. Isn’t it?

As per the study by Dr Karen Pine who examined the connection between women’s emotional state of mind and what they wore, she said. ‘Many of the women felt they could alter their mood by changing what they wore.” That’s why someone rightly said; ‘wear your heart on your sleeve and your brain in your sweater.’

“Even in the worst mood, I will still dress up. When I arrive there looking good, my spirit rises and my mood changes from low to high. Compliments add a little bit of spice and by the time I leave, I am glad, I went there because I feel better and I am glad, I pushed myself to dress up.” – by Rahan Kimani (An extract from her book- Seeking Happiness Inexpensively- 2)

So the crux is, no matter how low, flustered, nervous or unhappy you are feeling, the right outfit will come to your rescue.

I am sharing three looks and the corresponding three moods that I can relate to with these outfits that I have styled!

‘Happy and Cheerful’

This blush colour, ruffled, one shoulder dress is an easy-breezy day outfit. Whether you want to go on a coffee date, hangout with your girls or just want to be on your own, it will hit all the right strings with joy! The playfulness of the dress will come across in your look. Ruffles, frills and fringes have always conveyed cheerfulness to me and that’s why I chose this dress to convey happiness through my outfit. To enhance the look further, I have kept my makeup light and minimal. It’s a good idea to wear pastel colours in the summers for that fresh look.

‘Bold and Powerful’

Black colour signifies authority, power, and sophistication at the same time. When it comes to fashion this colour is no less than an aphrodisiac for all the ‘fashionistas’ worldwide. I chose this black maxi dress for that perfect style statement look. The combination of the red lip colour and high-heeled pumps definitely, added an element of finesse for me. This sort of an outfit is always an apt choice for any formal occasion, evening soiree or even a clubbing date with your partner.

‘Sweet and Lady-like’

Yes, this look is achievable by donning an outfit but obviously, one needs to behave like a lady too. I chose a full-sleeved dress which was sleek and smooth. I paired the outfit with pearl studs and pink pumps. The right shoes and accessories, will either make a look or kill it. I decided to pull back my hair in a ponytail, and wore a deep pink hued lip colour to add some pop of colour. This is such a versatile look that you can carry it during the day or in the evening.

I thought to share some ‘Tips for Happy wardrobe’ for you all

1. Wear clothes that fit you well
2. Add colour to your outfit. Play with bright and vibrant colours in your dressing
3. Choose clothes that flatter your body. Eg- Bardot tops to flaunt your shoulders and empire waist line to enhance your waist.
4. Cull your wardrobe. It is recommended to do so atleast, twice in a year which is once per season.
5. Donate these clothes and make others happy too!
6. You can always make your outfit go a notch up by adding an element of necklace, watch, high heels, a scarf or even just a bright lip-colour.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up!

Hope you guys have enjoyed reading this post! Do let me know your thoughts.
