Amazon India Fashion Week Lookbook #day1

The first day of Amazon India Fashion Week has always been full of fun, excitement and of course, fashion! The enthusiasm to attend the opening show of the fashion week cannot go unnoticed. So, coming to the choice of my outfits for the day one which varied from Sports Luxe with a hint of grunge to Indian fusion by a fabulous designer. I have always loved playing around with different trends which is why I chose these two looks.

Day1 Look1- Sports Luxe
I chose a Dorothy Perkins bodice dress which was inspired by the Sports Luxe trend and I paired it with a long shrug from Mango and grunge boots from Aldo. I thought it was a perfect fit for the fashion week as it was stylish yet very comfortable for me to run around! Have a look and let me know your thoughts on this look.

Day1 Look 2- Indian Fusion by Charu Parashar
The second look of day one was picked up from Charu Prashar’s latest collection- Serenity. The outfit incorporated fluid free silhouette with the use of handcrafted embellishments mainly gold and resham work which gave it a very refined look. It was a peach coloured dhoti teamed with beautifully handcrafted long top that enhanced its overall appeal. The intricate designing on the top depicted branches of the trees which was subtle yet spoke volumes to the onlookers. I paired the outfit with my grunge boots, blue sapphire necklace and a cocktail ring from Vibgyor Jewellery. Check out the pictures below and let me your views in the comments section below.

My pick from the first cut designers of 2016 – Guapa

Fashion weeks are always fun, and it is even more fun when you wear an outfit by one of the talented and promising designers who showcased their SS’17 collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week itself. The label is Guapa by Reby J Kumar and she presented her breathtaking outfits on the day 4 at Amazon India Fashion Week – the first cut designers of 2016. Guapa SS’17 collection at Amazon India Fashion Week was breathtakingly beautiful which was all about layering with easy shapes, summer hues, and eclectic color equations. I was in love with her collection the minute I saw models sashaying down the ramp in relaxed, floaty outfits! The brand’s philosophy can best be described as “downtown nonchalance meets minimal chic.” Believing in the concepts of simplicity, color and the free spirit, the designer picked elements from the everyday ordinary, only to turn them into something special.

My outfit on the day 5 at the Amazon India Fashion Week by Guapa

I wore a wrap dress from GUAPA Resort SS17 collection on the day 5 of Amazon India Fashion Week. Guapa means beautiful, sexy and gorgeous! And, believe me; her collection truly delivers that in every respect. Specializing in holiday collection her silhouettes and designs tell a unique story that you would want to keep close to your heart! So, for all your holiday fashion now you know where to head, right?

The Denim Edit (Part II)

Look 2
A nice denim shirt is considered as one of the wardrobe staples that shouldn’t be given a miss. And, when we talk of denim shirts in the context of trends and fashion, there are an array of styles to choose from- oversized, classic, boyfriend or frayed. As much as I love, all of these above, I will always have room for a classic fitted denim shirt in my closet. We usually consider this versatile piece as a relaxed, casual and an easy to go option. However, fashion is never restricted and creativity is my only driving factor at martini on heels. So, I thought to take the denim shirt up a notch by styling it for my evening step out! It can also scream understated elegance if styled to suit the occasion. I paired it with a short box-pleat skirt and to give it a neat look, I incorporated a tan belt as well.

And like, Tom Ford rightly said, “It’s hard not to be sexy in a pair of high heels.”

I certainly don’t underestimate the power of high heels, and donned these beige beauties to complete the look!

The Denim Edit (Part I)

Who doesn’t own a pair of those super comfortable denim jeans? But gone are the days when denim was just limited to jeans, jackets or shirts in your wardrobe. Since a few decades, denim has been the muse of the fashion designers worldwide. Clearly, it is still one of those fashion trends that has been doing rounds of the catwalks, season after season. Even, I couldn’t stop myself from picking up this theme, and since it is impossible to cover this dynamic trend in just one post, I will be subsequently doing few more posts on martini on heels revolving around this super cool blue fabric.

One thing that always keeps my curiosity levels high is the history/roots of that particular trend!

So, here we go back to the few amazing facts on Denim

  • It was originally called serge de N├«mes which was then soon changed to Denim
  • Denim was originally used by workers because of its durability, and it suited well for their daily jobs
  • The brand Levi Strauss is a brainchild of a man Leob and a Nevada tailor as they both together got the patent for creating workpants reinforced with metal rivets in the 1800s which is now commonly known as Jeans
  • In 1950s denim jeans became very popular with the younger crowd, and it was the symbol of teenage rebellion in movies and TV programmes
  • In 1980s denim took fashion industry by storm when designers like Gucci started designing jeans with their own labels on them, and it surely became the symbol of western decadence
  • In 1990s there was a sudden decrease in the demand of the denim Jeans due to which Levis Strauss had to close its 11 factories
  • In the year 2000, denim came back with a bang and till now, it proudly owns a space in high street fashion outlets and on the famous runways!

We surely, can’t get enough of this trend, right?

Look 1

My ode to this fabric would be incomplete if I don’t share its incorporation into the present fashion. For this blog post, I chose a blue denim shirt dress which is a smart, casual and a perfect fit for your shopping spree, college style or even a coffee date. Though it’s certainly not restricted to any occasion but it’s still more apt for your casual step out than an evening soiree. Have a look on how I styled mine!
