Amazon India Fashion Week Lookbook #day1

The first day of Amazon India Fashion Week has always been full of fun, excitement and of course, fashion! The enthusiasm to attend the opening show of the fashion week cannot go unnoticed. So, coming to the choice of my outfits for the day one which varied from Sports Luxe with a hint of grunge to Indian fusion by a fabulous designer. I have always loved playing around with different trends which is why I chose these two looks.

Day1 Look1- Sports Luxe
I chose a Dorothy Perkins bodice dress which was inspired by the Sports Luxe trend and I paired it with a long shrug from Mango and grunge boots from Aldo. I thought it was a perfect fit for the fashion week as it was stylish yet very comfortable for me to run around! Have a look and let me know your thoughts on this look.

Day1 Look 2- Indian Fusion by Charu Parashar
The second look of day one was picked up from Charu Prashar’s latest collection- Serenity. The outfit incorporated fluid free silhouette with the use of handcrafted embellishments mainly gold and resham work which gave it a very refined look. It was a peach coloured dhoti teamed with beautifully handcrafted long top that enhanced its overall appeal. The intricate designing on the top depicted branches of the trees which was subtle yet spoke volumes to the onlookers. I paired the outfit with my grunge boots, blue sapphire necklace and a cocktail ring from Vibgyor Jewellery. Check out the pictures below and let me your views in the comments section below.

Amazon India Fashion Week ’17 Lookbook #Day2

One of the very famous quotes by Carrie Bradshaw goes, “Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future, this is known as Fashion Week!” I feel whether its New York, Paris, London or New Delhi, it stands the same for all the fashion addicts of every city. Fashion Week brings new energy, new ideas and of course! It’s a new season! Isn’t it?

I had diligently planned my day while I was all geared up for the Day two of the Amazon India Fashion Week! Yes, I try to at least but that’s a separate story that the day takes it own course, and nothing goes as per my plan, broadly! (LOL) The adrenaline rush, the fashion quotient, and the style statements are at their peak during the fashion weeks. The best of best is what you witness, and how much do I love all of that!!

My outfit for the day 2 was fun and playful, smart yet chic and that goes without saying that how much I had enjoyed styling it! To further accentuate the look, I got blue smokey eyes done by a professional makeup artist. I chose a blue cold shoulder dress, paired with a white jacket and silver shoes which were all picked up from the same brand – Cover Story! Oh Yeah! Even the cute printed sling bag too.

Cover Story by Future Style Lab is a subsidiary of the Future Group, and I styled my Day 2 outfit from their latest Spring-Summer ’17 collection for India- Summertime Stories. The collection is inspired by the story of two BFFs who are bold, adventurous and ready to rock the world. However, their destination is undecided and they live for the moment. I simply loved the thought process behind their latest collection. Basically, the collection picked up its inspiration from the nine unique storylines- In Bloom, Biker Belle, 5th Avenue, Costume Drama, Beach Folk, 80s Safari, Club Tropicana, Praire. Each collection is designed keeping in mind- the catwalk trend, form, fabric and fit. Floral, Strong colours, structured shapes, laces & fringes, and brocades & jacquards are all beautifully incorporated in their latest SS’17 collection, and I totally loved it! Have a look at the pictures below and let me know what you think of it?

Until Next Time, Lots of love and Happy Vibes to you all!!

Amazon India Fashion Week’17 Lookbook #day3

Fashion Week always brings oodles of excitement. At the same time, it requires tremendous hard work too. By the third day of this on-going fashion saga, I was tired of work pressure and a little sad too as all this was about to come to an end in a day. While catching up on the shows of designers like- Namrata Joshipura, Malini Ramani and Wendell Rodricks, I had to shoot for my outfit of the day for my blog’s Fashion Week lookbook too.

#day3 outfit by Genes-Lecoanet Hemant
What I wore on the day third was one of my favourite picks for the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter’17. Genes- Lecoanet Hemant is a brand of the designer duo Lecoanet Hemant which is conceptualized and manufactured in India for young, happy at heart Indians. The intention is to offer the customers affordable luxury and smartly blending craftsmanship with high technology in their designs.

My pick for the AIFWAW17 was from their latest Spring Summer’17 collection.
The semi-formal range of Genes- Lecoanet Hemant was a mix of a lot of styles and techniques. Layered silhouettes put together with laser cut techniques, sparsely embellished dresses, geometric prints, asymmetrical cuts, constellation prints were seen in their SS’17 collection. I chose ‘corporate chic style’ look on the day third wherein I incorporated- navigator trousers and profile blazer to style the entire outfit. I teamed it with an off-white shirt from H&M and paired it with my Zara heels and a tote from Guess. Have a look and let me know what do you think of this look?

Tete-a-Tete with Hemant Sagar
I happened to meet Hemant Sagar during his ongoing state of the art exhibition ‘From Haute Couture to Technologies of Elegance’ conceptualized by him at the Bikaner House on 18th March’17 which utterly left me speechless. On display, at the exhibition, were over 70-80 creations; some made in Paris (1984-2000) and the other half at their Gurgaon Atelier (2000-2017), I also had a brief chat with him regarding his thoughts on the present Indian Fashion industry. See the video below.

The name Lecoanet Hemant, conjured up between the surname of Frenchman Didier Lecoanet and Indo-German Hemant Sagar, has been a part of the Haute Couture Establishment in Paris for over two decades. They started their career just like Yves Saint Laurent, Courrèges, Issey Miyake, Jean-Louis Scherer and many other prominent Fashion personalities on the benches of the “Ecoles de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne”, the unique school belonging to the Paris Haute Couture Syndicate

Love for Jewellery- Zariin!

When it comes to jewellery, I like sophisticated and finely crafted, statement pieces. The entire Zariin collection is so thoughtful and screams class, elegance, and craftsmanship through it’s every unique piece. No wonder, Zariin was my choice as a jewellery partner for my ‘evening gowns post’ on Martini On Heels!

The quintessential factor while styling your evening gowns or evening look is- ‘ how do you pair your jewellery?’ There are few tips that I always keep in mind.

  1. Going overboard is a strict no-no I chose a statement ring and earrings from Zariin’s latest collection ‘Sultana’. I skipped a neck piece, and kept it minimal and classy. Read more about ‘Sultana collection’ below
  2. Little experiment did harm nobody, but skip going too experimental with your classy evening wear
With this particular look, since there was no scope to support anything on the neck, I chose a pendent from the Zariin’s ‘Pearl Kissed Redux collection’ and wore it the other way around. Have a look below.

  3. You can always use jewellery to uplift your outfit and take it to another level
I teamed this beautiful corals, lapiz lazuli, malachite and black onyx studded ‘glory of constantinople’ head piece with ‘cyra’ choker necklace to elevate the look. If your outfit is simple and classy, then use a statement piece to define it!
  4. A little hint of jewellery just to complete the look
This is exactly what I love about Zariin’s collection. It can help you balance your look without going jazzy. The entire collection is so versatile that I can conveniently pair it with my Indian or Western outfits.

  5. Handcuff your look
One of my favourite pieces is from ‘day and night collection’ of Zariin. I find handcuffs really elegant and versatile as it immediately adds oomph to your outfit! I paired this beautiful handcuff with earrings from the same collection.

About Zariin’s latest collection ‘Sultana’
With direct inspiration from the artefacts and ancient influences of the Byzantine era and Art Nouveau elements, Zariin introduces beautifully crafted range of jewellery with intricate details, extravagant colours and rich statement pieces. The social significance of jewellery in the Byzantine era was greater than ever as suggested by the abundance of coin and jewellery relics. Our muse from that time, empress Theodora is seen adorned with elaborate jewels in all its splendour. Theodora, broke out from the barriers of a patriarch society to rise from ashes to become one of the most effective empress of the time. A feminist in her approach, her story is synonymous with self-determination – a quality we value want the Zariin woman to thrive on.

Strong and stylish chokers, big glamorous earrings, cascading necklaces and powerful rings set with Coral, Malachite, Black Onyx and Lapis Lazuli imparting colours that spell royalty. With this collection, Zariin defines luxury with its attention to detail. Each piece has intricate jaali work on the back inspired by the Byzantine pieces. The jewellery is a stylish reminder to rule your own life. You are your own queen. You are the “Sultana”.

How do you like the post? Do leave your comments below and stay connected with me on facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

Until, next time!

Much Love ☺

Seven tips on how to style your evening gowns

Evening gowns are always a perfect choice for your special occasion, any formal party or a pre-wedding function! There is a reason that it is the choice of all the celebrities worldwide for the red carpet event. A perfect evening gown will accentuate your curves and that’s exactly what is so classy and fabulous about this dreamy outfit. Yes, I find it ‘dreamy’ because whether it’s a floor sweeping gown paired with high heels or a flared one which can make you feel like a princess, once you swirl, it will always make you feel on the top of the world! However, there are always few styling tips which can make or break that look, and shouldn’t be ignored!

Things to keep in mind when you style your evening gown:

  1. It is all about the right fit– No matter how flattering the gown is but you have to make sure that it is for you! The right fit is the vital factor as it can make or break the look for you.
  2. Your foundation pieces are as important as your main outfit– A visible panty line is very distracting and steals away all the panache from your look! For the love of god, please choose your undergarments carefully. Avoid backless dresses, if you don’t have the perfect bra to go with it because without the support it will make your gown look very shabby and unclassy.
  3. Know your body to choose the gown– If you are pear shaped or have a thin waist line, invest in an empire waist gown. It will highlight your narrow waist and hide all the flaws. Similarly, if you are an apple shaped you might want to accentuate your bottom area.
  4. Do not accessorize all your visible areas– It is not advisable to wear jewellery wherever you can think of! Keep it simple, minimal and classy. If your outfit needs to be elevated around the neck then just go for one statement necklace, and if it doesn’t, just skip it. Sometimes, all you need is a hint of jewellery, may be a nice pair of earrings or a handcuff! Like I styled this blue-back one below.
  5. Right pair of heels– Yes, it gives you a right posture but only, if you choose your heels correctly, and most importantly, if you can glide in those shoes and not hop! If you wear six-inches heels but can barely walk in those for even ten minutes then it’s a bad choice, go for kitten heels instead!
  6. Every other detail counts– Your makeup, hair and even every other small detail like manicured hands will make a world of difference. I personally like, sleek hairdo for evening gowns as it’s your outfit that should grab all the eyeballs. The hair and make up should not clash with your outfit. So, please avoid all the drama and experiments for this evening look!
  7. The right bag– Evening clutches mostly go well with these beautiful gowns as you do need something to carry your basic stuff.

I have styled various different evening gown looks for this post. Have a look and let me know how you guys have liked it. All these fabulous pieces are designed by Nidhi Gupta who showcased this entire collection at the recently, held Asia Designer Week!

Valentine’s Day Euphoria!

There are two sets of people- who believe in Valentine’s Day and those who actually find this ‘over-the-top’ display of love ridiculous to the core of their heart. Though there are many people who experience this feeling of euphoria, on this day but there are still a few who find it bizarre. I wish, I could be infected with this overly exciting V-day syndrome, but I don’t perceive myself to be a part of the same, to that extent. It’s not that I have anything against it rather I want to celebrate love every single day of my life! It’s just that my expectations out of ‘being in love’ cannot be restricted to any special day. I had always thought why do I need to step out, and celebrate love just because there is a day assigned for that? Especially, when restaurants are overbooked and swarmed with lovey-dovey couples, shopping malls are more keen on the public display of affection than the couples themselves, and don’t even talk about those heart shaped balloons that are found in every nook and corner of the city on this day! I am more than happy to be with my special one in a private set up where there is no humdrum of bizarre V-day celebrations!

Sometimes it dawns on me that there is another set of people- those who fantasize about getting involved but just cannot put their guts together to be a part of it!

However, I believe valentine love is 365 days, and that’s how I would like to keep it! Yes, I know, there’s a little bit of ‘Mills and Boon’ perspective here but being a Libran, I have a full right to be in my dreamy world! ☺

I don’t care about this date, per se, but that doesn’t mean I don’t believe in love or the celebration of love. It’s just that I am not a ‘play by rules sort of a person’. Despite this, yesterday, I stepped out to buy a Valentine’s Day gift, and it was for my brother from his girlfriend who is not based out of India and she thought I have a better taste and sense of gifting, so, she assigned me the job. As I walked from the store to store searching for a perfect gift for my brother (from his girlfriend, of course), a thought crossed my mind that I have never been through this drill to this extent, especially, because it’s a valentine’s day!

There is another irony about this special occasion – not everyone but may be a few couples put their pretentious faces especially for V-day because they are meant to behave in certain fashion or post pictures on the social media. I still look at it positively because had it been not for this day, another day would have passed for them thinking they cannot be in love. Maybe, this day might have changed something for them. Amen!

Being a hopeless romantic (this is another Libran trait), I believe, I am so full of life and love that I don’t need any special day to feel like that. I don’t consciously participate and neither am I an anti-V-day person but the irony is I did get involved!

And, maybe on this special day, in an overly excited state of mind, I might end up with a bouquet of red roses in my hands, having a candle light dinner at some swanky restaurant which is full of excited couples! LOL!!! (Never say never, right?)

P.S. I don’t like red roses, any colour will do, but not red!! 😉
Until Next time, lots of love and Happy Valentine’s Day to all my lovely readers!!

Staycation @ Hyatt Regency Gurgaon

Sometimes, all you need is to detach from your usual life routine. It may not be possible to take time out for a long vacation for this purpose where there is strenuous planning involved in deciding on that perfect itinerary. That’s when we need a weekend getaway where the sheer motive is to relax, unwind and enjoy! One such place where I wouldn’t mind spending my weekend in the lap of every luxury possible, under the sun is at the Hyatt Regency property in Gurgaon.

Hyatt properties worldwide are known for their super luxurious rooms, and they also promise to take you on an amazing gastronomic journey through their multi-cuisine restaurants and bar where the menus are meticulously decided by the coveted chefs. Besides, they also offer luxurious recreational facilities, outdoor swimming pool and a well-equipped gym to make your stay wonderful and enjoyable!

I have my list of at least five reasons why one should visit Hyatt Regency Gurgaon

  1. It’s conveniently located on the National Highway 8, in the rapidly growing belt of Gurgaon and Manesar. The Hotel is in the close proximity to the shopping malls, airport and other leisure destinations which makes it apt for your weekend getaway!
  2. The super luxurious rooms will make you feel at home yet the interiors are spacious and articulately designed, keeping in mind every need possible of the guets. There are 451 well-appointed spacious guestrooms, and 37 luxurious suites in the hotel that will make your stay not only memorable but also stylishly comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious, and well equipped with all the modern amenities that one could think of!
  3. The food and beverage of any hotel plays a big role in enhancing the overall stay of any guest, and it is one of the vital factors for me as well. At Hyatt Regency Gurgaon, you would be spoilt for choice as they have plenty of options for you to have an enjoyable meal. Their award winning restaurant Lavana is known for authentic Awadhi cuisine, Kitchen district with five interactive kitchens has Indian, Asian, Mediterranean Japanese and Western cuisines, and the stylish Long bar offers lip smacking good cocktails and other spirits.
I absolutely loved my Christmas dinner at the Kitchen district and with Indian, Chinese, European and Italian cuisines to choose from, I was completely ‘food-struck’. The elaborate dessert spread at their Christmas dinner needs a special mention. Everything from Chocolate Yule, Mille Feuille, Gingerbread Cookies to Choux pastry was very ‘christmasy’ and scrumptious. The pastry chef Mr Aditya very thoughtfully designed their Christmas special buffet, and it goes without saying that how much I loved that pretty as a picture spread of delicious cakes, mousses and ice-creams.
  4. One cannot feel completely rejuvenated unless one makes a trip to the Hotel’s spa. ‘Shvasa Spa’ embodies the spirit of old traditions with the complexities of today’s environment. It offers an array of luxurious spa treatments for your well being including Full Body Massage, Body Scrubs, Body Wraps, Facials, Manicure and Pedicure.
I had a nice time enjoying the Swedish massage during my stay at the hotel which was a good 90 minutes session. This classical European technique of stimulating muscles with aromatic massage oils was very relaxing and invigorating. It incorporates traditional technique to soothe your tense and tired muscles, leaving you in a state of pure Nirvana.
  5. There are a lot activities offered by the hotel to engage the guests during their stay so that they can utilise their free time wisely. Activities like yoga, cooking classes, cocktail workshops, golf event, sports activities and zumba will definitely make the stay at this hotel worth your while.
There is also a modern, well equipped fitness centre at the hotel which is dedicated to all the wellness enthusiasts. It’s a great experience as the state-of-the-art fitness centre has all the cardio and strength-training equipments to help you carry on with your fitness regime, even on a vacation.
Outdoor pool with a glass of Pina Colada, the mere mention of this combination simply calms one down. A dip in pool is a good way to rejuvenate your mind and body. My idea of taking a leisurely break is to go on the sun deck, and sit by the pool with a book and my favourite beverage. There is a special kiddy pool for the kids to also splash around as well.

#imperfectlyme by zariin

Recently, Martini On Heels attended the preview of Zariin’s fall 2016 collection, and they showcased their new collection- Sultana through their campaign #imperfectlyme (all bodies are beautiful). Zariin Jewellery collaborated with Jia Singh and last month organized a small get together at Devang House in Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi. The event was called- Body Positivity, and the idea of this concept was aimed at encouraging women to be confident about their body and stop body shaming. For this great well thought event, 18 women from all walks of life came together and shared their personal struggles, and stories. They shared how they overcame those hindrances in their mind to lead a successful life they are happily living now. Jiya Singh shared her thoughts, “I have always been preoccupied with eating healthy, and exercising diligently until that too much of a good thing could also be bad for you. It took me a while to fine tune the balance so I could eat mindfully, indulge without guilt, and enjoy everything without having to worry about the repercussions later. I’ve learnt to love my body and cherish it for what I have rather than picking on imperfections. I don’t have a thigh gap and I’m not built like a model. I have fine lines, short legs and strong arms, and yet that doesn’t stop me from putting on a swimsuit at every chance I get. Life’s too bloody short to compare yourself. So go ahead, put on that swimsuit and embrace that body. I’m going to start by being #bodypositive and I hope you’ll join me.” Jia was the main driving force behind the campaign and Vidhi Gupta, Karishma Bedi, Urvashi Kumar, Mamta Gupta, and Karuna Ezara Parikh were other few names amongst 18 wonderful women who joined this beautiful campaign with her.

Women these days are extremely conscious about how they look which keeps them from leading a normal life. The idea of the event was to bring together a group of women who were all confident in their skin, and at the same time, they didn’t shy away to share their personal wonderful stories. The event was an ode to womanhood and the idea was to tell women that they should happily embrace their imperfections and not fret too much. To represent the notion that all bodies are beautiful, the hashtag #imperfectlyme was propagated on Zariin’s social media and at the event. Kudos to you ladies! You truly are an inspiration for so many. The event was organised by Devang House who laid a wonderful menu of organic bites and herbal teas. Thank you for having Martini On Heels at your event Zarriin! It was an absolute pleasure to be there.

Street Style @ Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer’17

Anybody who keeps a close eye on the latest fashion would very well know that the street style is as important as fashion seen on the runways. Street style not only depicts the personality of an individual but is also a portrayal of his/her creativity which is usually seen in the urban centers, at the fashion weeks or just on the streets! Martini On Heels was scouting the best of street fashion at the Amazon India Fashion Week SS’17 and yes, we got some fabulous captures to tingle your creative nerves. A few did leave an impression on me that I thought that it would be a good idea to feature them on Martini On Heels. I being a fashion blogger myself have a thing for street style fashion, but creativity is no one’s prerogative, right? Anyone who enjoys fashion can be a street style guru, and we didn’t leave any stone unturned to find the best of street style fashion during the fashion week for you!

Distressed Jeans – Day and Night Look!

So, I have already styled the same distressed jeans in one of my previous posts- The Denim Edit III. However, there are zillion ways that one can style these super pair of versatile jeans. I thought of taking the same denim jeans, and transforming that previous day-look into night-look.

Day Look

The previous look created on martini on heels, when I used the same pair of distressed jeans was something like this below. It was chic, comfortable and prefect for your college fashion, shopping spree or even coffee date.

Night Look

Obviously, these Jeans paired with your favourite high heels is such a deadly combination. One of the looks which I collated for you is like this below. I simply love pairing jeans with jackets and ankle length shoes, and since this look is for night out, it would be a good idea to add some zing with this blingy blue crop top!

Now, to put up another look, I thought to take it to the next level, and pair it with an oversized see through net tunic and high heels! Funky, Yeah? But definitely, it also screams stylish and cool to me at the same time. Let me know your thoughts on this look below! And, until next time, lots and pots of love to you!
